The Honorable Gregory Fischer, Mayor
Louisville Metro Government
537 West Jefferson Street
Louisville, KY 40202

Dear Mayor Fischer:

We are members of the Heather Hills Subdivision Property Owners Association of Clifton Heights, located of North Hite and also just above the planned sidewalk improvements for Brownsboro Road. Our subdivision is home to six blind or sight-impaired families. Some can walk to stores in daylight.  Nearby there are other blind persons who walk with a guide dog. Some homeowners in our subdivision do not own cars and therefore walk to stores along Brownsboro Road, but have difficulty crossing that fast moving road safely if they don’t walk ¼ mile out of their way to a traffic light.

We believe that the road diet, which directs turning traffic into a middle turning lane that also adds a sidewalk along the north side of Brownsboro Road leading to an existing traffic light at Clifton Avenue, would greatly enhance the ability of these sight-impaired and other pedestrians to shop at more Brownsboro Road stores. The current configuration has been known to the public and discussed repeatedly before neighborhood groups for four and a half years.

Mayor Fischer, we’re asking you to please sign the notice to proceed with construction of this sidewalk.
